'Submission' Part 2 never happened because the person who directed this film (Theo Van Gogh) was murdered in public & a letter was pinned to his chest by use of a dagger. The creation and expression of this video costed him his life. Ironically, the act of violence & murder of Theo Van Gogh and the death threats against Ayaan Hirsi Ali gave this film exposure all around the globe.

ABOUT SUBMISSION
The film's title 'Submission' is a direct translation of the word "Islam"
Submission is a 10 minute film in English written by Ayaan Hirsi Ali & directed by Theo van Gogh. The short film was broadcasted in August 29, 2004.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali (a former member of the Dutch House of Representatives for the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy).
The film tells the story of 4 fictional characters played by a single actress wearing a veil, but clad in a see-through chador, her naked body painted with verses from the Koran.
The characters are Muslim women who have been abused in various ways. The film contains monologues of these women and dramatically highlights three verses of the Quran (4:34 2:222 and 24:2) that authorize mistreatment of women, by showing them painted on womens bodies.
On November 2, 2004, Theo van Gogh was assassinated in public by Mohammed Bouyeri, Moroccan muslim with a dutch passport. A letter stabbed through and affixed to the body by a dagger, linked the murder to Van Gogh's film and his views regarding Islam.
After the murder of Theo van Gogh, Submission gained international fame.
ABOUT AYAAN HIRSI ALI
Is a Dutch feminist, writer, and politician.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali born 13 November 1969 in Somalia. She is the estranged daughter of the Somali scholar, politician, and revolutionary opposition leader Hirsi Magan Isse. She is a prominent critic of Islam, and her screenplay for Theo Van Gogh's movie Submission led to death of Theo van Gogh.

When she was 8 her family left Somalia for Saudi Arabia, then Ethiopia & eventually settled in Kenya. She sought and obtained political asylum in the Netherlands in 1992 under circumstances that later became the center of a political controversy. In 2003 she was elected a member of the House of Representatives (the lower house of the Dutch parliament), representing the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD).
In 2005, she was named by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Lo's Personal Message:
I shared this beautiful short film because to me, it shows an example of the DEVOLUTION OF THE SACRED FEMININE SANCTITY (and its NOT directed at any particular group/person). We can all agree to disagree but I will not tolerate silly arguments, I love to read them though.
Humans (across the world, regardless of their different cultural practices, beliefs, religion, race, sex, socioeconomic status etc) tend to deliberately commit atrocious acts that go against human rights & find a way to justify their actions by placing the blame on some "HIGHER SOURCE"... stop with the ignorance. Please read through the responses before you attack each other over deeply programmed (insane) beliefs.
Please learn to tolerate each others differences and BE LOVE. What exactly is everyone defending anyway???
Blessings To All
Lo (Enigmaress)

lol The truth is, To each their own. This film portrays "a" view out of various other views. A view that focuses on only the negative perspectives. She's presented nothing but herself as innocent, and in the end, don't all present the same. Don't we all give rationals? I believe this woman was never even a Muslim to begin with. Ayan Hirsi lied about herself (when seeking refuge in Netherland) and when her lies got caught the government excluded her. what credibility does Ayan Hirsi has left?

As a Muslim woman I feel shocked to see this, but also annoyed that every person that watched this video now thinks that this is the life of the Muslim woman. These are ignorants and wife beaters...people who have no morals or conscience that would treat a woman in such a way. This is insanity. It does not represent how I grew up, and reading the book "Infidel" most of the time I felt like Ayaan was speaking of a Somalia from another dimension. I have not seen or experienced any such thing.

Nice film. Portrays corruption in, the dysfunctionality of, and the oppression by society towards women. The scenario is very realistic, and is a good way, I feel, at showing awareness of abuse et al. However, this isn't really an insult to Islam itself, but as to how it is used by people to mistreat others. The woman's uncle's actions would clearly not be acceptable, under the Koran, yet her father defends him. In the end, I believe the woman is the better Muslim. People should understand

@preetybaby6 Rape is more rampant when you FORBID people to masturbate and have sex before marriage. I'm assuming you're a woman so you might not know what it feels like. It's an INSTINCTUAL URGE to have some sort of sexual release. This is why rape is so widespread in some conservative countries that people don't even report these things because it's so normal. It's pretty sad that being a woman yourself, you would put your own kind down. Are you suggesting women to wear a blanket outside? Sigh

@luscioussensual hey r u muslim??? if yes r u a muslim that read qur'an n interpret the meaning of the qur'an??? if not then u can remind silent becoz what i see here u dont know things :) ok
Good fences Make good neighbors
the quran says that a woman needs to fulfill a mans desire. It also says that a woman is not supposed to refuse sex to her husband. This religion focuses on the comfort of men and not women. Women are sexual slaves in this religion. Anyone who says otherwise needs to read the verses. It doesnt say that a man cant refuse his wife sex.

Wow. Powerful stuff! I'm reading "Infidel" at the moment, and I'm finding it facinating. Brutal in parts, horrific, but ultimately facinating. I just read about the death of Haweya and I cried like a child.

The comments to this video show an unfortunate tendency to veer from sympathy for abused women to ignorant bigotry and astonishingly vulgar abuse. The video should not license bigotry. Examine your consciences and recant.

I think that you truly have to pity Muslim women in general. While not all Muslim women live this way, I believe, sadly, that a great majority of them do. Kudos to the guy who made this. Such a shame that he was brutally murdered. May he rest in peace. Islam is unfortunately becoming worse as more details are unraveled about this religion that has been hidden under the veil of deceit for so long.

I have to admit that I am confused about religion. So many people flock to the words of the Bible or the Quran for answers. At times, I feel torn to admit to my peers that I don't know if believe 100% in a god or hell. Why does God allow so much pain? How does his words justify the beating, rape, torture of his people? Why does he allow suffering to those who believe in his words and live their lives according to His wishes? Great video! Love Infidel. Recommend everyone to give it a read!

@Loaki00 You're very welcome. I think this is something that we all should be very concerned about.... as I mentioned before, there are no lies in this video... she quotes actual verses and hadiths that are in the Qur'an, and if people simply read it for themselves, there would be debate. According to the Qur'an, muslims that do not fight and choose to remain silent are just as bad as unbelievers, and there is definitely no room for individual interpretation with Islam (ie: Submission).

@rosepetalaysha -- just reading the comments here... I just have to say that because of all the propaganda out there that I decided to do a bit of research myself to see what was the truth. I have started reading the Qur'an and everything that the girl in this vid says, IS in that book. As well, there is no tolerance to unbelievers and Allah tends enlighten his prophet just in time to justify the raiding and murdering when ever it's convenient. I recommend for everyone to read it.

@sofaford - they have to act like this, if they want to be true muslims. The quaran is very specific about this. Moderate muslims, like moderate christians, ignore the inconvenient parts of their holy books.

@scrgto - AGREED. Islam is a terribly destructive set of beliefs. Christianity was just as abusive when it had power. It is because of the impact of secularization, which provided accountability, that we have been able to progress beyond this mentality.

I dont think there is a part two (despite the ending comments on the video) because according to Wikipedia , and the description- The film is only meant to be ten minutes long....So i think this is the whole thing. My personal views on this are, dont blame God- blame the people. People wrote the Quaran and the bible and it is people oppressing and forcing others to follow these broken rules...

Loaki00: "Ayaan Hirsi created the video and as a Muslim woman, she was expressing her thoughts and opinions through the film" She is NOT a Muslim, as she constantly states in all interviews and biographies, she has displaced herself from Islam Sept 11, 2001. This short film was created long after her denouncement of Islam.

Nothing i am saying is in any way connected to you, or what you are stating Loaki, these statements are totally directed towards Ayan Hirsi, and her distorted views of Islam. When one is seeking attention from a certain group of people, they get it. And she's CERTAINTLY is getting it. She is not against ISLAM. She is against a wide spread epedemic called "IGNORANCE". SHE needs to get her facts straight.

The problem here is that these "socially crazed people" use their culture and their religion to justify their actions. They use is as a shield to hide behind. This is for example seen in honour killings. They kill (or disfigure) a girl (usually of their own family) because she has broken Islamic law or went against culture. Also, if these women live in the West , they do not *have* to abide by these laws. We have freedom of (and from) religion - no matter if their male relatives dislike it.
Kay Elle
Kay Elle 10 years ago
No, and I do not think anyone is claiming that all Muslim men are abusers, however, here's the problem: Religion is often used by these people to justify their actions (like say, in honour killings). They are using religion and culture to hide behind, to say "you cannot punish us for this, this is our freedom of religion", and THAT is very wrong. Also, if they live in Europe, they must accept thing like adultery not being illegal, for instance, and thus not something that can be punished.
Soders Pawp
Soders Pawp 10 years ago
I am completely against the people connecting Islam with the henious acts of socially crazed people. Because of ones culture, the whole of Islam is deemed negative. This degradation is pure social and has absolutely NOTHING to do with Islam. Forced Marriage is Haram, and beating women is Haram, and because some so called Muslims do this doesnt mean its representing Islam. Please get your facts straight, before induging in such disrespect of a whole religious group.

"Christians and men of other cultures and religions rape and beat on women as well!" Did anyone notice the woman was wearing nothing but black robes from head to toe? -shrug- My thoughts on this: .... I am not angered or horrified--only worried.

Every publicity is for sell...whatever happens, the media says, "let's sell it! let's make money"...be it about Islam or the death of Van Gogh. Of course, generally the Muslim people are falling behind in terms of higher/quality education and therefore opportunity as a whole. Nobody is talking about that...nobody is looking for the earthly reasons...everybody is keen to find out the holes in the books...cause these talks and events sell very well...amazing people we are...!!!

It's truly sad, but girls & women are so vulnerable! All it takes is a father, uncle or a trusted family friend etc. and know one wants to deal with the issue, no one wants to believe the girl or woman who has been violated! It's generally swept under the rug! Thanks for posting this video...i hope it will help women in situations like this & also wake people up to the fact that this issue exists! Peace.
