[MOTOROLA RAZR 2019 HANDS-ON / MOTOROLA RAZR 2020 HANDS-ON]
The re-imagined Motorola Razr is part flashy technological feat and part practical portability perk, sold at a premium price despite some forgettable specs. If you’re thinking that sounds familiar, then you much have been around for the first Motorola RAZR launch back in 2004! Despite its high price, that RAZR product family would go on to sell 130 million units over the next four years, going down in the history books as the most successful flip phone of all time. Can Motorola capture lightning in a bottle again? I recently got a sneak peek at the company's flexible-display flagship branded simply "razr" - and while my enthusiasm for the foldable category doubtless colors my impression, I came away hopeful for the Motorola brand name for the first time in four years.

This is the phone line that I want to see step up to Apple. The design and character goes a long way. The expected level of improvement generations bring should be enough to make it worth having. I miss hanging up with a clap.

I remember my razor back in the day. Those were the days when I was active in clubbing scene. It gone through so much drama. I vividly remember the 8MB of memory which I had to wrestle with all the time when I was trying to take a picture and make a video. Good ol'times.

What if they made it with a 16:9 display? I'm still not giving up my Razer Phone 2 with ring sticker. Easier access to the whole screen

I love it. I want it to succeed but like Blackberry Priv, KeyOne, and Key2 (I own one), it may be priced too high to compete.

If the phone was cheaper than 1500$ I would've considered it.even with monthly payments, I don't know if I could justify getting it.

This is awesome and I want one. You also didn't mention that now that the phone folds to protect the screen, most people will have no need to bother with a phone case or any kind of protector for this phone.

If I ever migrate to the Android - I want this phone or it’s successor (I hope this experiment will be successful and pay off to Motorola). I used to have Motorola phones when I was teenager and I loved it. I still have E398 in a working condition. That stereo effect though! P.S. Samsung Fold looked like a joke before I saw Razr, and not it’s just seems to be fake not a good folding phone.

The only way this could be better would be if the small front display was *e-ink:* imagine how much longer would it last, how you could read anything even in direct sunlight... Otherwise it seems pretty much perfect.

I bought a Blackberry Priv after i saw your review, still using it and happy with its performance. But the phone is starting to show its age a little. Maybe my next upgrade will be a foldable phone. This is on the top of the list. Yeah i like unconventional weird phones. Nothings gonna change that. Edit: I guess i'm that certain kinda person you mention at the end of the video. Still gonna wait for your full review tho

Since the release date has been pushed back I hope Motorola is improving the software to rival Samsung. For $1,500 they owe the people that much.

What the best thing about not being super intent on having the flashiest and newest thing is that you don’t get first generation problems. I think folding screens are cool, but I’m more than happy to let other people deal with the teething issues related to new technology.

This phone will only use android 9, operating system. Not the android 10. It won't be 5G compatible, battery life it's short (compare to an Samsung's Galaxy S10 plus). But it looks like it doesn't have a earphone jack.

Dear Motorola, Three critical things - *1) Get the price down.* - At a grand or slightly under, it will sell. $1500.00 crosses into the 'bling thing' niche market. Expect the person holding it to also have keys to a Tesla P-Series in their pocket. *2) Form factor vs. battery life* - this is a foregone conclusion that should have been addressed via wireless charging. Packing it with a portable charging cradle that has a 5000+ mah battery inside it probably won't help address point #1, but it makes a hell of a lot more practical sense when you consider the user experience against that asking price. *3) What were you thinking with that camera?* - a huge chunk of the market (predominantly female - hint, hint) has been eliminated by this rudimentary camera setup. There's already a bump, for crying out loud - put something decent in it, and do it *before* you offer this in pink. I look forward to a 2nd generation RAZR that addresses these issues - which is virtually guaranteed by Apple's planned abandonment of a physical charging plug (making wireless charging 'cool' again), and Motorola's recovered R&D expenses via sales profit from the 1st gen RAZR (money doubtless spent by early adopters with more dollars than sense).

Also - Android NINE? Just why? And why is the interface using Android soft buttons when you guys designed the Smart Navigation Bar to work *using the fingerprint sensor* in *THAT EXACT SPOT?*

This is the first phone that has interested me in years. My current phone is 4 years old, and I've seen no reason to run out and replace it. Now I'm certainly not going to pay $1500 for a phone, but give this a year or two, and an affordable used option will certainly be available if not a cheaper new one. So this is definitely on my radar. I loved my original RAZR back in the day, and have missed the flip form factor ever since.

Very intriguing design. Opening price might be a little bit high, but early adopters are often ready to pay a premium... I guess in mid 2020 it will drop below 1000 bucks, and then it starts to get interesting for more people. I believe that 600 bucks would be the sweet spot for this. Maybe with a cellular contract it will be cheap enough. I'm looking forward to get one as soon as it becomes affordable. Let's wait and see.

I'm sorry but in my eyes vertical phones are literally useless the only point I see is to make it more compact when you're not using it. Folding the other way is actually useful because you have a bigger screen
