Having worked for a major Hydro Power government owned, I know the most difficult thing with solar or wind, is to balanced the grid. The country that has been able to do this by using giga batteries is Germany. What India is downing is most remarkable. It is bringing electrical power to small users and medium users (large also obviously).

No one has posted a negative comment yet so I guess ill be that guy. India must be backwards and primitive to think that Biomass generators are renewable but nuclear is not. small scale hydro power only? what fools... Dams only get more energy efficient when they get larger. using arable farmland for solar farm instillation is a really inhumane decision. you flipped a coin between feeding your people and giving them electricity. Nuclear power is the closest thing this world has to a perfect energy source. it only has two flaws which can easily be fixed: 1. risk of meltdown. a catastrophic failure only happens at old, outdated, poorly maintained, or improperly expanded power facilities. if innovation and engineering can make solar and wind cheap; then it can make Nuclear safe. 2. disposal of nuclear waste. solid nuclear waste should be stable at an average underground facility, as long as the area is not prone to earthquakes, floods or erosion. in most countries the perfect area would be at the bottom or large open pit mines. Nuclear waste inside a 3" thick lead cylinder, inside a steel cylinder coated in epoxy, bundled together at the bottom of the hole (500 feet below the surface) surround the containers in concrete, insert tungsten plaques baring the radioactive symbol, and fill in the hole with the mined out dirt.

John Little : I am from India and I know that U.K.has done much more in renewable energy. You don't have much sun there but you have tremendous ocean waves, which has been harnessed by you all. William Salter did pioneering work in this area in the 1970s though his designs have now been discarded. I learnt all this as I myself am trying to understand methods of harnessing ocean waves. After all where have all your coal mines gone to ?????

+tintunbirha I have 7000 watts of panels installed and that is barely sufficient. 9000 watts would be ideal. 5 kva dual MPPT charger inverter and 12 150 AH batteries. I belong to Haryana. Avoid Indian inverters. Mine is made in Taiwan and works like a charm.

Its all good but India need alot more solar plants but the rates have gones below 3rs and roi is above 7-9 years now if Indian gov just give 4rs per unit like they do to coal plants there will be alot more growth i was looking into 1mw plant but less than 3rs is bad i dont think i will open that 1mw plant anytime soon

Last month my electric bill was $300. It appeared absurd to me that it would reach this high. I needed to do something about it. Through the generating power technique “boma fetching unique” (Google it), my power bill is now diminished by around 60% because I was able to produce power, also. And that is not just temporarily-that`s forever.

when solarpanels are placed on fertile soil or water: no photosyntesis
Wellington Boobs
I guess it will go down as well as the same news about China: India has a better energy policy than the USA and Britain. Once the privatization aspect is cut out of the picture, there's no reason why the material capital for solar can't been worked for within a year or two. That means no energy / fuel bills _whatsoever_ once public ownership is gained of the industries that produce renewable energy equipment. I think that's clearly a policy that will win major public support; now consider who is voting against it. Who is voting to make people unnecessarily pay for energy and who wants the payments? Aside from the huge bills, putting more than ten percent of people in energy poverty and many more struggling and worrying and constantly juggling finances to just about cope, how much in tax subsidies (public debt) are they claiming? What is the Real Cost of them poisoning the environment and everything dependent upon it? Are their lies about the known effects of their dirty business crimes against humanity? Should the people who 'work respectable jobs' in firms like these be allowed legal protection by the criminal corporation known as city of london, the wide-open 'secret city' within the City of London favoured for its crippling libel so-called laws (legal red tape based on hiding transnational corporate crimes)? www.theguardian.com/media/2017/sep/05/reputation-laundering-is-lucrative-business-for-london-pr-firms

Solar and other renewable sources are the future. Tesla is revolutionising car market with electric cars. What we need here in India is innovation in electric bikes that provide same performance as petrol bikes. Electric automobiles coupled with renewable electricity for charging will help us to meet emission targets.

There are some but the price is too high. I knew or at least sort of knew an engineer/mechanic hear in the uk that built performance electric bikes as a side job. Didn't have the scale to make them cost effective though I think 5k for 90mph and 40 miles range with solar sides and a bike rather than motorcycle. Now theirs faster motorcycles with better range but all are more expensive.
Robert Schuster
I just don't like seeing arable land taken up by solar panels. I like the rooftops and canal covers. One thing not mentioned and maybe because they don't consider it renewable is LFTR technology. I know India is working on it and I hope they get some plants into production soon for proof of concept so that other countries will follow their lead.

Until all the roof tops are covered with solar panels, It just seems self defeating to make places where greenery can grow barren. After all, plants do more to take carbon out of the air than anything else. If it's not a good area for food crops, at least trees or grass could grow there. The only places I can justify putting solar farms is out in an already barren area.
gcKukie Year ago
Where i live people grow ginseng under large nets, it would make total sense to build a solar farm that blocks the same amount of light as the netting for that situation, but i hear where your coming from, farmland is more important than people in the cities want to believe.
