How the Panthers' 15-win season and potential dynasty went up in smoke

The 2015 Carolina Panthers were fun, they were great, and they completely blew their chance at being one of the best ever. Their fall happened immediately and in a unique way when compared to other NFL collapses. It's almost impressive to go from 15-wins to the bottom of the division in just a single season, but to then bounce back into the playoffs from there makes for an even more confusing story.
You could say they had more luck than most in 2015, then it ran out (and then some) over the following seasons. After dodging injuries, they quickly piled up. From top to bottom the organization received a facelift, which helped further distance our thoughts from their incredible run to the Super Bowl. But to appreciate greatness, sometimes you have to explore its demise.

This is why you don’t shell out when you have a team that’s top heavy. Gettleman got the short end of the stick.

I don’t even know why I’m watching this, I have no interest in football, maybe it’s for the same reason I play ESPN NFL 2K5, they’re both *pretty good*

With those George Floyd stickers they have on their helmets now, I was a life long fan of Carolina but not any more.... guess it’s time to find a team that doesn’t support a drug addicted woman beater...

Yeah this sick to the stomach to watch... That Panthers O line was a weakness, and they didn't double team Von was the issue, Ware also destroyed that O Line.

As a Bucs fan looking, I think it was mismanagement from the top. They let Cam play hurt and didn't invest much in the offense after Steven Smith left.
"Dynasty" LOL!!! I think to even be considered a dynasty you need to win a few Super bowls close together. How many has Carolina won? Oh yeah.......ZERO so lets leave the "Potential Dynasty" out of this entire conversation plz. They made it to the Super bowl because of scheduling and didn't face a good team UNTIL the Super Bowl.

The question that may never be answered>>>why didn't Cam at least try and recover the fumble in the Super Bowl??

The irony in this that the Broncos also collapsed after 2015 when Peyton Manning retired, but he went out a winner. Although they are in better shape now since then.

Their defense was incredible that year. Led the league in turnovers and put the offense in easy TD situations all year long.

You forgot to mention tolbert who was KEY in blocking and short run situations. We had the QB sneak/dive, HB sneak (or really anything up the middle), FB sneak, and WR sweep with ginn!! It was lethal in short yardage situations. Also tolbert could catch and made some big red zone plays and could line up in a few different spots. Cant believe we got rid of him and star.

I still cant forget the part in the episode where the baseball players traded wives and lives, where you said you wouldn't trade your dog for anything and that you loved your dog. That was so sweet to me, that here I am, lord knows how long later commenting about it on a completely random and unrelated video.

This trip down memory lane almost brought me to tears. If I remember right, Cam was on fire in 2018, as good as his MVP year (if not better with CMC demanding defensive attention) up until that arm injury. The team mishandled him, and far too many fans rejected him because they didn't like his "style." I owned four jerseys of players from the 2015 team and they are all gone. I'm taking a break from the Panthers for a bit because I'm just so mad at the organization.

All has been witnessed first hand and i can tell you it doesn't feel good. Panthers deserved better.
WoeIsLee 12 days ago
Just imagine if cam Newton didn't have so many female tendencies. He seems like a guy who's more concerned with what he wears to press conferences than the actual games themselves. The second he jumped away from that football was the second I lost all respect, not to mention the amount of money I lost.
Dtruth 12 days ago
He always was an erratic passer even when healthy. His passing cost the team multiple games every year. When his health took away the pass run option he was horrible at his position. Tepper made the correct move in letting him go. The NFL is a what have you done for me lately league. Being a Panthers fan I'm excited about the Bridgewater era.

@ryan miles Yes - the Broncos defense in 2015 and 2016 gave the blueprint to make Cam Newton a sub par QB. It was like a red flag for every other defense - we just had the personnel for it. It was easy to see - especially after the opening game in 2016 that the whole Panthers organisation would whine when Cam was treated the same as other QB's that loved to leave the pocket . Ex. Tim Tebow had no shortage of teams going hunting in 2011.

Well considering it was a TJ Watt hit that caused Cams most severe and recent injury, and he is currently on a roster, I fail to see how that is the case.
