Come to think of it, they could have made a movie where they showed what happened to the characters that disappeared in x men 3 when the power of the phoenix is awakened while they were in the sequence of the suspension bridge. In the 90's cartoon series I think there was a chapter about it. I hope you understand what I say.

I know that it is not in this x men movie but when they will develop the powers of Rogue (Titania for Latinos) since many movies have passed and in no one can the character evolve, least of all his relationship with gambit

Dark Phoenix "My emotions make me strong". Really? We thought it was that cosmic energy/entity. Terrible movie, on so many levels.

I’m not trying to attack but wow did you miss the point of that line. She was referring to hope making her strong and gaining control over her powers. They did this in Days of Future Past with Charles. I think you meant have missed the whole movie’s point like Screen Junkies did.

Does anyone have a black woman that's knowledgeable about comics? oh you do, great! get her we're feeling really bad about being white
Devil
Devil 2 months ago
Unfortunately, she is not very knowledgeable about the Dark Phoenix saga. Because those aliens were the Hellfire Club(in an earlier version of the script) and Jean didn’t become the Dark Phoenix until at the very end where she flies off into space to eat a star in the cancelled sequel.

Daniel is right, Jean should have destroyed a city. In the comics she drained a sun and it destroyed a planet. In this movie they could have had her drain a nuclear reactor and destroyed city.
Devil
Devil 4 months ago
No, she shouldn’t because Jean wasn’t the Dark Phoenix until at the very end of the movie. I recently reread Uncanny X-Men #100-138 and they are very unfamiliar with the source material.

What honestly upsets me most about the last two films is that they finally decided oh now's a good time to bring in Nightcrawler again. Like, you bring him in on the the two worst films, and back then I didn't think it could've gotten any worse than Bryan Singer's horrible directing, well fuck me I was in for a shock

Yeah. I found it strange that one of think it’s too soon to establish to explore Jean’s tragic backstory. That’s usually the first thing you do with a character, especially in superhero origin stories. Batman Begins for example.

DevilMayhem666 Exactly! I love this channel, but sometimes I feel like they go for the weak joke instead of the valid criticism. And not in honest trailers itself, but the more free talking videos.
Devil
Devil 8 months ago
@Anthony A. Perez Yeah, they think Jean is under some short of evil influence. When the movie explicit states several times that her anger is the result of her repressed trauma coming to the surface. The cosmic force just unleashed a character flaw that was already there.

There should have been an X-Men movie between Apocalypse and Dark Pheonix. Apocalypse had its problems but I think it did an alright job at reintroducing some of the classic X-Men. There needed to be a movie where we get to see this team work together and take on a C-lister like Mr. Sinister or something. Keep the stakes kinda low and just show them getting to know each other more and work as a team. That way when you do your big retelling of Dark Pheonix the audience actually gives a shit about these characters.
Devil
Devil 8 months ago
It was originally planned as a two parter and we have been with these characters since First Class. If you are referring only to Jean wasn't even meant to be a villain but the protagonist who was suffering from PTSD according to the BTS content. You don't need a character to appear multiply movies to do what is essentially an origin story.

I hated the decade hopping too. Raven was mostly the worst too, but it's believable someone could be that way-so that's okay. The biggest problem with these movies was that whatever the makers wanted to have happen or said was forced to happen or be said. Within this series' own imagined universe, they're fine movies. Otherwise..not so good if you try to frame it in a more logical/our reality manner.

The X-Woman jokes comes off as a Big Lipped Alligator Moment. There’s no indication beforehand in this film that anyone has been weak or underperforming, as has been pointed out Mystique’s argument is factually incorrect and the idea of girl power or female self empowerment is never brought to the forefront. Vuk is barely characterised at all, she’s a plot function as the antagonist. She lacks any personality and even her motive speech doesn’t have any passion. You can count the number of scenes where Storm has dialogue on one hand. Raven herself is killed off within the first half hour or forty five minutes (which the trailers showed!). Even though Jean is the titular character she doesn’t feel like a fleshed out person. Everything we learn is plot relevant. She isn’t even fleshed out through Scott, who spends all his screen time doing something linked to her.
