Album: The Eminem Show (2002)
Label: Shady, Aftermath, Interscope
Producer(s): Eminem, J. Bass
[Verse 1]
These ideas are nightmares to white parents
Whose worst fear is a child with dyed hair and who likes earrings
Like whatever they say has no bearing, it's so scary in a house that allows
no swearing
To see him walking around with his headphones blaring
Alone in his own zone, cold and he don't care
He's a problem child
And what bothers him all comes out, when he talks about
His fuckin' dad walkin' out
Cause he just hates him so bad that he blocks him out
If he ever saw him again he'd probably knock him out
His thoughts are whacked, he's mad so he's talkin' back
Talkin' black, brainwashed from rock and rap
He sags his pants, do-rags and a stocking cap
His step-father hit him, so he socked him back, and broke his nose
His house is a broken home, there's no control, he just let's his emotions
go...
[Chorus]
{C'mon}, sing with me, {sing}, sing for the years
{Sing it}, sing for the laughter, sing for the tears, {c'mon)
Sing it with me, just for today, maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you
away...
[Verse 2]
Entertainment is changin', intertwinin' with gangsta's
In the land of the killers, a sinner's mind is a sanctum
Holy or unholy, only have one homie
Only this gun, lonely cause don't anyone know me
Yet everybody just feels like they can relate, I guess words are a
mothafucka they can be great
Or they can degrade, or even worse they can teach hate
It's like these kids hang on every single statement we make
Like they worship us, plus all the stores ship us platinum
Now how the fuck did this metamorphosis happen
From standin' on corners and porches just rappin'
To havin' a fortune, no more kissin' ass
But then these critics crucify you, journalists try to burn you
Fans turn on you, attorneys all want a turn at you
To get they hands on every dime you have, they want you to lose your mind
every time you mad
So they can try to make you out to look like a loose cannon
Any dispute won't hesitate to produce handguns
That's why these prosecutors wanna convict me, strictly just to get me off
of these streets quickly
But all they kids be listenin' to me religiously, so i'm signin' cd's while
police fingerprint me
They're for the judge's daughter but his grudge is against me
If i'm such a fuckin' menace, this shit doesn't make sense Pete
It's all political, if my music is literal, and i'm a criminal how the fuck
can I raise a little girl
I couldn't, I wouldn't be fit to, you're full of shit too, Guerrera, that
was a fist that hit you...
[CHORUS]
[Verse 3]
They say music can alter moods and talk to you
Well can it load a gun up for you , and cock it too
Well if it can, then the next time you assault a dude
Just tell the judge it was my fault and i'll get sued
See what these kids do is hear about us totin' pistols
And they want to get one cause they think the shit's cool
Not knowin' we really just protectin' ourselves, we entertainers
Of course the shit's affectin' our sales, you ignoramus
But music is reflection of self, we just explain it, and then we get our
checks in the mail
It's fucked up ain't it
How we can come from practically nothing to being able to have any fuckin'
thing that we wanted
That's why we sing for these kids, who don't have a thing
Except for a dream, and a fuckin' rap magazine
Who post pin-up pictures on their walls all day long
Idolize they favorite rappers and know all they songs
Or for anyone who's ever been through shit in their lives
Till they sit and they cry at night wishin' they'd die
Till they throw on a rap record and they sit, and they vibe
We're nothin' to you but we're the fuckin' shit in they eyes
That's why we seize the moment try to freeze it and own it, squeeze it and
hold it
Cause we consider these minutes golden
And maybe they'll admit it when we're gone
Just let our spirits live on, through our lyrics that you hear in our
songs and we can...
[CHORUS X2]

I'm 33, a bit more then 20 years, this man, lyricist, Slim Shady, Marshal Mathers, Eminem and the rest of his alter egos💕😜 Eminem has given me and this generation the most unique and never again lyricist that has effected someone some way good or bad. You will never hear lyrics like his again! Marshal Mathers you are a once in a lifetime musician that will and remain like NO OTHER!! I wish I was able to attend at least one concert but I believe the last time in Montreal Quebec Canada was canceled. I remember, I was in my early teens and the show that you performed in overalls and a chainsaw was the most transition in performance for the rap industry. There will never be another you and that's okay BECAUSE THERE IS NO BETTER YOU THAN THE YOU THAT YOU ARE! took you long enoug to accept that you are much more then you believe you are and that you are a Grammy or Golden globe! you're just as amazing and unique as our universe. Cd after lps to platinum records each song you created or featured or did a small part on another song it doesn't matter because it has been the most calming voice that goes through my head and my heart💞 I wasn't raised to think I was anyone special to anyone, Lonley Cause don't anyone know me, yet everyone one feels like they can relate I guess words are a mfer the can be great or they can degrade or worse they can teach us to hate. You letting out the way your words flow doesn't matter what we are going thru your words let out that in held rage and knowing someone can put it into words and make comfort music for damaged souls. You will always be the only rapper who crawls through my body making me blessed and thankful that I lived during the era of Eminem. 20 years later you will still be my go to😌💣 I suffer from borderline disorder and at least Eminem made me feel like I wasn't alone and I have to (rip linking park) bc they also had not as big as a result of the impact of eminens songs but I loved both artist but the real slim shady please stand up because you need the reality that you are the greatest! Hands down by far to infinity and beyond you are #1 fuck the rest you're the best( I love all types of music and have favourite songs by all kinds of artist, landslide fleet wood Mack. Just know Eminem will be the only one of a kind rap lyricist and that's my honest opinion and I just wanna see him live just once in my life but most likely not at least I got his music for life, truly your biggest fan, ps come to Montreal!! One last time. and hey overalls are in again do a blow out concert bc no one will ever be able to sing the words you say! There's only one you and you will remain that title for life 😉💟💞 my life is complete bc u were part of it thank you

I grew up rough, NO, nothing to do with make'n ME tough, just "it's a rough way to grow up when your father was in the Army and you have to move when ever the army tells you to. Forget grand parents, uncles, aunts, cousins.......FRIENDS, when you're an army brat you have to make all new friends every couple of years or so, SO the friends you have ain't like other folks friends, you ain't got ONE SINGLE FRIEND you can claim as "My life long buddy", Here you are in KCMO 1968/69/70 riots are in full swing, Dad gets sent to Vietnam but before he does he puts his family in a Edwardian 4 story "POS" house in a neighborhood that's very rapidly turning ALL black. I had no problem with this at all, not at all! I may have been the only kid in KC raised the way I was. There was the "Moving around all over" thing but it wasn't confined to moving around the USA only OHHH HELL NO!!! By Kansas City I had been in 10 different countries as well, ....pure white populations of CONCEITED ASS HOLES, hell yes, but for Black American Soldiers living on base all the years there in Germany, Spain, Austria etc etc etc not one single BLACK person was to be seen, nowhere, not discussed, they never entered my mind. So as I said, I had no problem with the hood going all black. not at all. But I gotta tell you, after being set up and ambushed a couple of times, it became obvious that some of the Black, young folk, had a major problem with me, my brother and sister. Then there was my ass which, in my youth, got to know what electric cords, boards and hands on the end of arms attached to a 6'7" 285 lbs frame, felt like (you know what "Frogging" is? Let my dad show you, except, he'd frog you right in the center of your skull, .........I'm talk'n "LIGHTS OUT" boys and girls! Now let me, tell you, about ME growing to manhood by first, joining the Navy, going back to Europe SOLO for 6 months, Hunting Soviet Subs, moving to Fl for 2-1/2 years, marrying an insane woman named Diane, so fucking crazy she kills my first child, Divorced in 80, moved to Naw-lins, re-married in 83, and "" "she certainly was" A Cajun Lady, we had three children, but lost one. Ship fitter/welder for 8 years, Ships Designer for 30+ years via "CAD and other systems, children all grown up, my daughter had a son, my son has had a life too much like mine, loosing his first child and my first grandson, but I survived and so will he then he and she will try again to give me an African American grandson cause he, my son, he don't notice COLOR very much either. Then there came a time I'd rather have died to miss, My Cajun Queen, my best friend, my mate and mother of my kids, my worthy "Champion Competition" at darts, pool, my pride when it was she that took home ALL the money, the person I could always talk to about "Most anything" really!!! Went on Hospice last August, here in our home, where I cared for her, staying awake every hours she was awake, cooking, fetching her drinks, giving her, her medication. As I watched her light go out, last November, all I could do was yell "I LOVE YOU JACKIE" Over and over and over again "I LOVE YOU JACKIE" Then I could see it in her eyes, My wife for 40 years, my dainty Cajun Darling is gone and then,...then I just broke down in a heap and waited for some family to show up. I can't rap, a little too old for that, but I find typing stories about true events in my life very cathartic. The stories stay fixed in my mind better That said, they can also make me very emotional so I'll take a break for now. BUT If anybody wants to learn more about MY ""40 YEARS IN THE MAKE'N""" STORY, JUST ASK
