There are a number of these types of generators and all have potential but are invisable to the the govt. advisers and rejected by the Greens as they might fix the problem Tides are Perpetual and predictable and on advice I have received 10 years ago the Kimberley region has sufficient energy to supply ALL Australia's needs and is an ideal export locality into Asia I held a Government sponsored International Conference in Broome in May 2003 proposing this energy be used for hydrogen electrolysis but no one took any notice I also suggested to Woodside that they should develop it to electrify their LNG plants which now burn with emissions 20% equivalent of their export volume Wilson Tuckey

People living up in the far north, like, " Alaska, or the Yukon, " or anyplace where Waterfalls can be found, could use this idea.

We invented a turbine and produce much more energy than this.It has vertical axis senkronize wings and it has never done before. The best thing is we can add more wings and produce much more energy and it doesnt create turbulence like this

We invented a power tribüne,it has a different system. As you know all power tribunes made by propeller system but our tribune has different system and it has never done before. It works in the water also at the wind.It is better than propeller system and it produce more energy than propeller system. Also it doesn't create turbulence. As you know propeller system creates turbulence. Also our system is much more cheaper. If we make a big wind tribune with our system we can make it with half price of classic wind tribüne and we can produce more energy and it doesnt create turbulence. We made a big prototype for water.3 meters to 2.5 meters. We took it to a small water like river ,it is water flow speed is very low.And it produced electric there.A restaurant near a river, wanted to buy our power tribune for producing ıt's own electric but we didn't sell it because we want to develope this system. We applied for it's patent. Also we made a small prototipe for showing how the system works at the wind.It is small about 40 cm-25 cm.If we put it against to wind it turns and system can seem.A professeur from Antalya Akdeniz University, saw our project and he wrote a detailed project for this.He said he had never seen a system like this, this is very original. He is our consultant now. Our new power turbine can be a revolution at energy sector. Also it is not harmfull for the fishes because it doesn't create turbulence.

why they ever wasted more than 5 minutes on this fish mincer ? look at Open Hydro for comparison , low speed rotors with a center hole that even small whales could swim through without harm.

Open hydro went bankrupt this year... but i do prefer the aesthetic of their turbine, like a dyson for the sea

this can work perfectly on a river with 1 flow, but no way can it work under the sea the tides moves front back side side there is no way u can get constant motion . If u solve that then it will be okay, but i doubt it.

Such a long cable and so much power loss. Therefore not very practical.

I guess we are suppose to ignore the huge line losses and the cost of the 20 miles of copper cable to get it to the nearest grid? How convenient...can we look at the cost of thorium nuclear plants without the fuel cost....since they will be burning spent fuel?
Toraguchi Toraguchi
rRobert Smith My first thoughts too. Power loss from long cables, unless Voltage is stepped up at source.

How does it produce 50 or 60Hz AC power???

It looks a little weak. Is that chain enough for strong currents?

... development of the Sea Urchin was dropped in 2014 on cost grounds.

I would have thought more on viability. Wind turbines can be built 100s of miles off a coast line.

Could your soundtrack possibly be less inspired or any more annoying?? Doubtful!

You could have hundreds of these in the Bristol channel, they would produce huge amounts of electricity.

True, however, if those GIANT WINDMILL generators were water-proofed & placed in Deep Sea trenches, ( where strong currents flow ), just think of the endless power that could be made, all without thing up needed Farm Land.

deploy this on a ship or sailing boat would be much better. infuture transportation ship need oil.. just use sea urchin

chains are stupid and old technic weird concept.

Sea waves are comparatively more turbid so close to the sea bed. Going a little up reduces the turbidity

Michael Simoneau maybe there is a benefit from them being able to move up or down??

I agree in the technical sense. It should be a block-type containing these 2 or more turbines and rigged on the surface of the seabed. From there, electric generation is connected as usual via underwater cable to land-based power grid. How does that sounds? Do you agree?

wow!!! beautiful!! knowing there is another renewable energy source that available makes it great... the world's future will be clean and green..

It is basically the sea version of the already existing enhanced wind turbine
