I ran into a problem with my portable PC, the monitor just seems to freak out and not work with it, and i have to had it replaced and still the same issue and can't figure it out. It's USB powered and i don't think power is the issue for the monitor, but the HDMI signal from my portable PC is, and it makes no sense, since every main monitor works fine with it and one other portable monitor, but not this one. Anyone else experienced this???
OTKZuki

Ok when i said it does not work with it, well it does, but not how i want it to work by. When i plug in the portable PC into main (not battery) it works with the PC, But when the PC is plugged into battery, flickering.

No not any portable monitor, most portable monitors get the display only from usb, this one was unique because it got power from usb but display from HDMI, which meant I could plug it into the GPU of the pc

Hello, so thank You for make This amazing tech, your video inspired me for many months... I want to ask How can i know what battery can hold my Pc? It consumes 85watts, my Power supply is 500w but ofcourse i only use 85w, its a ryzen 2200g + 20w monitor. So i Wish i could use It portable for about 2 hours or 3. Thank You!

I mean you made a portable pc version 2.0.. I can add onto that, and the case will be all hand made with molten, and cooled aluminum-oxide. pcpartpicker.com/list/b4dCdX, www.rei.com/product/123285/goal-zero-yeti-400-lithium-portable-power-station. 281 watts(desktop-mock laptop watt usage)/400 watts (total battery)=70.25% watt usage. 70.25%*60 minutes=42.15 minutes worth of playtime. (I haven't found a better battery as they're crazy as balls....) System internals without the case cost: $1,582.43 Lithium Ion Battery: $599.95 Total cost: $2,182.38 So far these are the hypothetical plans for the build, as I am still improving upon it before I actually go through with the build. But I really want to end up with being able to put the battery inside the Desktop, or attached to the desktop case to make it all in 1.. (mock laptop)

NeXTech News wow, i never thought of the ease of cleaning. my computer is hard to clean because ive got to take out the drive bays, GPU, CPU cooler, and the power supply to get to the motherboard, it lays flat on the table and cooks the display port cable while its at it.

well? how much did the battery last on gaming?
continuous HUNGRY
continuous HUNGRY 3 years ago
great! once your done il start shopping from amazon through your link at your website. also please make it a ryzen build since that cpu uses less power.
NeXTech
NeXTech 3 years ago
+continuous HUNGRY it lasted about 2 and a half hours depending on how demanding the game was, but there seems to be some power loss from starting at dc power (the battery) converting it to ac (the plug on the battery pack) then converting from ac back to dc (the PSU) where the motherboard uses it. So I'm trying again where I keep everything dc with an hdplex and a battery

really? then i'll wait for that video hopefully the new portable case rig is not ridiculously priced nor not hard to get by, btw have you checked those mini itx with pico psu? they are really small though and see video powering 1060's I'm a bit on the edge purchasing small psu which the same price as these aftermarket psu, its just a tiny pcb sitting on a 24 pin connector.. I'm not just used with the whole concept yet. though it is a sweet idea minimizing the sff hopefully it can catch on with better price.

A power inverter, or inverter, is an electronic device or circuitry that changes direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC). (wikipedia). simply the most inefficient way to use a 12 volt battery. the best way is to use a 12v dc-dc power supply such as the pico-psu (maybe something more powerful)

I love this video! It just goes to show the value of mini-itx computers. I would personally love to use this for a no hassle LAN Party set up since I do LAN parties often and hate having to unplug everything in order to get it to work. I would use this mainly with a controller since I hate gaming on a touchpad but the touchpad on the keyboard would be perfect for normal Windows tasks like browsing the web and launching the game. Then you could always just hook it up to a secondary larger monitor like a 24 inch one and use that as your primary monitor and disable the tiny monitor when you are back at your desk and not with your friends. Really great idea for a portable PC and I might actually try this in the summer. However I will use different specs because I have an i5 4690k, 8gb ddr3 ram, gtx 970. Currently I am using the Corsair H100i V2 but would swap it for the Noctua low profile CPU Cooler and use the Corsair 600 watt SF mini PSU instead. I wish I got a mobo with M.2 capabilities but I will stick with SSD's for now. Do you think this case could fit a WD Blue HDD? If I mod it a little? I am thinking of upgrading my system to an i5 6500, 16gb ddr4 ram, and a gtx 1070 mini from Gigabyte. That would be perfect for this case and then I can fit a hard drive since it is a half size graphics card. Ah well enough rambling and awesome build. I am glad someone finally done it and I wonder how hot it would get while gaming. Keep up the great work!
Tom Brown
Tom Brown 3 years ago
Awesome! That is good to know. I will save up for the case and power supply. I already have an old monitor that is Vesa mountable although it's only 720p. Might be able to mod the case so I can screw the monitor to the case panel.
NeXTech
NeXTech 3 years ago

yes i would like to see you shrink this portable computer even smaller, using a gtx 1050 small form factor, hopefully you might use the antek isk110 case, you used earlier in one of your videos and mod that case aswell, see how that works, because that is something i really wanna see you do :)
