The Child friendly iPad settings have changed in 2019. Make sure your child's iPad is a secure and safe environment for learning. This video covers the updated parental control options and I'm sure parents will love how the child friendly ipad settings have changed. There are a lot of new parental restrictions and limitation to control screen time alongside the ability to restrict content. These updated child friendly parental controls will take a while to digest and set up, but they will ultimately relieve a lot of the annoyances with regulating your child's ipad.
Most children today have an iPad or other tech device. They provide an easy break for parents and can help children learn and grow. Alongside the learning possibilities technology can also be extremely frustrating as a parent. Monitoring screen time and trying to regulate such an attractive and addictive tool for children can sometimes lead to blowups and yelling matches. The simplest solution is always to ban the ipad, but I've found that banning such devices can also put your child at an academic deficit when we consider how dependent our world is on technology.
I believe a better understanding of these devices is a simple way to ensure that technology is being used in a kid-friendly manner. Although many children think of iPads as toys, they are in fact very powerful tools for learning and creative exploration. How these devices are used is up to the discretion of the user. It is up to parents and educators to monitor and teach appropriate uses of these devices to ensure a safe experience. This video will help you in this process.
This video covers:
- The new screen time and parental controls for ipadOS 12
- Where to find guided access and other past parental controls.
- How to restrict explicit content to ensure the ipad is child friendly and safe

Awareness Module They did do changes to iOS 13. 1. New way to access accessibility. Settings > Accessibility 2. Accessibility got a redesign 3. Home screen on iPad is now 6x5 instead of 5x4. You can also pin widgets to the first page of the home screen if you or your child wants to. 4. As of iOS 13.3, you can now set communication limits in the Screen Time settings. Make sure to make an updated video before iOS 14 beta in June!

I believe the features I discuss here are relevant to OS 13. Have you noticed some changes already @ProjectZorgo?

Is there a way to just set a time limit ? I did the guided access but now every time they pick up the iPad I have to allow more time in fifteen minute increments. I just want to set an hour limit and be done with it

Awareness Module 16 days ago
You should be able to set an hour in guided access. On the bottom left of the guided access window click options. Highlight time and it will give you a set of time wheels to set how long the time limit should be. Your ipad must just have a default of 15 min. Let me know if that works. Cheers.

Mine does the same

The setting should not be linked to your iCloud from my understanding. They should be set on each device separately.

Please check out your audio setting when uploading your videos. Also, if you are reminding us to remember our password, remember we are the adults, and we don't need to be told over and over again. Sorry, although what you are saying if super good, just had to click off this video before the end. Suggest you look at your audience retention stats to see if I am the only one. Feel you are taking 17.52 minutes to tell us information that should take 5 minutes. If you visit my channel you may well tell me that people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones and I will say fair cop.

@Awareness Module I don't know why you think my comment was random??? It was sincere and focused feedback. I don't think my volume levels were the issue I had been watching other videos prior to watching yours and found yours to be annoyingly loud in contrast.

Thanks for the random feedback Clapham. Maybe check your volume buttons for the sound troubles and I'll work on cutting down on the rambling. I appreciate you taking time out of your day to comment. Cheers!

Great video, just wondering if there was a way to restrict the amount of apps that can be opened at one time? I find my kids ipad's battery drains quick because they have 10,000 apps open at the same time. Thanks.

That's an interesting one. I don't think that's possible at this time. 😓

Do you know if the protective app settings go away if you turn off screen time? How do you handle having two kids access the iPad? I haven’t been able to sign my son out of his iCloud so that my other son can play under his iCloud account... so they end up having to share the screen time

The protective app setting will stay even if screen time is off. Apple would like you to buy more iPads so I don't think you can create user accounts like a computer. I'll look into it, that would be awesome if you could. Thanks for the comment.

Is the age limit on apps up to 4 years if you select 4+?
Awareness Module

Yes, I believe that is correct. I know, the + is confusing right? Try it and then look to see if the older apps are shaded out or gone from the ipad screen.

Can I see my kids screen time without going on their phone
Awareness Module
Awareness Module 3 months ago
I don't think you can. However, there is an app called Kidslox which allows you to use parental control features remotely. I believe you can monitor what your child is viewing from your own device using that app. It is paid, but I believe it is worth it.

How to limit volume on iPad?
Awareness Module
Awareness Module 3 months ago
In guided access you can switch off the volume buttons. Start guided access while in an app and look in options on the guided access screen. You can turn off the volume buttons there. That is the only place I've found that can limit the volume in any way. Hope that helps.

On 15:00 - 15:02 Block out Explicit Language, if you're going to block out Explicit Language when talking to Siri, you would want to toggle Don't Allow right?

I'm not sure actually. I never thought about this function and how it works with Siri.

Awareness Module If there is a way to “not allow” that would be great. And explaining the difference of Spotify vs SoundCloud would be a good tutorial as well

Awareness Module I would rather hide it from him at this point so when he is older he can make a better decision about some of the bad stuff on it

Deleting apps like Soundcloud is pretty easy. Just hold down the app until it wiggles and the hit the "x" in the corner. I much prefer Spotify anyway. ☺️

Is there a way to password protect certain apps? Like the settings....
Awareness Module
Awareness Module 4 months ago
That's a great question. I've tried to find an option for that. I even searched if there was a way to hide certain apps, maybe by using another app and unfortunately I don't believe it's possible for any specific apps. All of the vault apps are just for pictures. Please let me know if you find a way.

How can you restrict the TV app to only show downloaded content and not show purchased iTunes content? There should be a toggle in the restrictions or screen time area. I can't find it. Seems like an obvious thing that people would want. I don't like seeing it on my iPhone. Having to weed through offline content to find downloaded content. Thanks!
