After having one of the extractors disintegrate and hit the wall with great force during this video, a test on safety glasses is overdue! Also, any suggestions on future video ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone for helping support the videos through your generous Patreon support. www.patreon.com/projectfarm. I look forward to reading your comments and video ideas. Thanks again, Todd

Safety glasses, nuts, and a slingshot seem like they'd be the perfect setup for a test. Shoot nuts at the glasses with a setup so it pulls the slingshot back the same amount each time. Then record the results. Or even better, split some nuts with the hydraulic splitter and uses sharp chunks!

You cracked that Irwin while hammering it on, you can see the split just before you put the breaker bar on. I have a UK set of those, so I think I'll be super careful about hitting it with a hardened hammer.

How about testing router bits. Select a common type like a trim bit and test the cheap ones and the expensive ones.

Is Snap-on really worth the prices? Is one of their sockets or wrenches going to perform better than a much less expensive Craftsman? I don't think so. I've always thought this company is a rip off. Also, I bought the Go2 socket about 5 years ago. I like that it came in a very small plastic case and doesn't take up any room in my tool box at all...but it's there if I need it.

We tried everything, like even welding a nut onto a bolt, which the bolt head broke off completely and then that did not work, used a proper extractor reverse drill tool and set up, the tool broke inside the bolt, so then we had to drill it all out and then used the right threading tool to make sure the new thread was there and then used a new bolt to replace it? could not believe the amount of hassle it gave us? Luckily it was in a good position to do all this, basically a chevy 4.9 engine and the thermostat bolt nearest to the left when looking at the engine just broke off, but it was good that it did as we noticed it had no thermostat in it at all?. :)

They most likely asked if they can use the video as some of their ads. Companies will do that sometimes as it is a) cheap for them b) proof that their product works as intended

Destroyed 3 nut splitters to crack a nut...garbage
NSDflug
NSDflug 4 days ago
Project Farm well to be more precise, i had a M18 nut, so a quite big one. The nut splitter just cut a part of the nut, exactly like in your video but it was not enough and i destroyed 3 splitters because the force which needed to be applied was big in order to cut the nut and the splitter was weak although was intended for nuts up to M22. And regarding the price, it was about 10$ for 1. Greetings from Germany !

Maybe I'm missing something here, but the "stud removal" tools didn't remove any bolts, they just broke them off??????? I wouldn't want that on an engine block.

Harbor Freight must be really cutting into Snap-On bottom line. Snap-On has been slowly outsourcing their tool components to overseas manufacturing for the past decade.

My understanding is that the US made socket type removers are all coming either from AJ Manufacturing or Hudson Bearing. I think the SnapOn is from AJ and the Rocketsocket from Hudson.

The snapon ones suck. Buy the blupoint ones instead. They're impact rated and if you get the lug nut remover set, they're actually pretty dang good at getting stuck lug nuts as thats the most common stuck bolts in the auto industry.

I have a set of removal sockets I bought off of one of the tool trucks many years ago. They are not marked with a brand name but have the little logo that appears to be the same as on the Rocket Sockets. I deal with a lot of exhaust manifolds on the agriculture equipment I service and the ones I have have served me well for many years and are still undamaged after much use. If indeed the ones I have are unbranded Rocket Sockets I give them a solid endorsement.
