Isn’t there an option like on previous macbooks for the finish of the screen? Shiny or matt. Is there just shiny?

I'm just looking forward to the 14". I've been wanting a 14" ever since going from my garbage 14" Dell to a 13" Macbook 11 years ago- which I still use daily believe it or not. It seems this update, with the slightly body and different cooling system, leads me to believe we won't be getting a full refresh model cycle next year.. maybe the following year? Makes little sense to put in new changes like the screen, body size, cooling, etc if they're only going to use it for one year.

Why didn't Apple release the 14" to replace the 13"? If I purchase the 16", and next year, the 14" gets released, I don't want to regret purchasing the 16". Now, I need to wait 6 more months to make a comparison.

I would agree this would be the best laptop on the market, but I find the fact that there is only USB-C ports really annoying. I record videos with Elgato, and that uses a USB connector, along with a mic that is also a usb only. Oh well, I've got a few USB-C to USB dongles. Simple fix.

No SD Card reader :( Front Camera still 720p 30fps :( No Touch screen or OLED display :( NO Wi-Fi 6 :( T2 with the same multiple crashes in the past :(, where is the T3? So in Conclusion let's wait for the 2020 Model. just saying..

While it is a major improvement over the old 15" model, Apple missed on one thing: no WiFi 6 (802.11ax) support. If Apple can put in WiFi 6 support on the new iPhone 11 models, they could have easily put in WiFi 6 support on the new MacBook Pro.

My guess about apples future product line: they will sell a 14" macbook air and pro instead of the 13" and add a macbook air 12" (they had some years ago also a 11" macbook air, thats why i guess they will put a 12" macbook air soon)

Thanks for the video. The one question none of the early reviewers are answering but should is would this be a viable alternative to the iMac Pro?? Thoughts?

Well with high end laptops like this there's a case for it as photographers and videographers are a big part of the target market. But seriously, is it that much of a hassle to plug in a dongle? An SD card reader takes away from battery/thermal management space. I know what I'd prefer.

Why do all these reviews spend so much time talking about the same thing? Specs, they mention specs, specs and more specs. I can read all the specs on Apple's website. I wish these reviewers would actually talk about the unit they're reviewing and not so much on specs. Geez........

Still got those sharp edge, very irritating on the wrists to rest on. Feels Like a stop gap measure (be that the fastest one they have ever released) before they do a complete redesign for the APPLE ARM based processor.

Apple truly nailed the pricing of these new MacBook pros. People were anticipating the prices to be be in late 2000’s somewhere between 2800-3000 but starting at the same price point and offering double the base capacity, reliable keyboard, better speakers and even a greater graphical computation is a really sweet deal.

Because of cost and battery life. You never see the individual pixels anyways on a high DPI screen on the Mac so what's the point of a higher resolution on a laptop screen?

You can't spec a 3.5mm headphone jack and then talk casually about inches and expect anyone to give a flying fuck about the rest of your review. Who cares about pixels per inch? NOBODY! If you want to present data casually, use relevant systems (hint: there's only one).

Second the improved keyboard is good because you won't make typo in first few hours? Enough...

@Bjørn Inge Nøkling totally agree ~ Mac GPU still suck with AMD Navi what a disappointment!
Bjørn Inge Nøkling
More like 1060. It is REALLY mediocre. This mac should have rivaled the RTX 2080-maxQ for that price. I´m going for the Razer Blade 17" with 4K. And I´ve used macs since 1994 and HATE windows. I blame Apple for this. This is what happens when the mac sales is responsible for 9% of the total yearly earnings. The rest is iphone, ipads and services.

You guys need to stop using the "debris get caught under the key" as the reason for it is failure. While it was the reason why Apple thought it was the problem, it WAS NOT the problem. The problem for sticky key was the dome cap giving out. That is why on the latest generation of the butterfly keyboard, they changed the chemistry of the dome cap; iFixit and Cal Poly have identified it.

@DR128BIT Yea! I'm also part of the very few who enjoy the butterfly keyboard very much. I like light tapping when typing so the low travel butterfly keyboard works perfectly for me.

Apple really cares??? About stockholders maybe! This is Schiller's shill! My 2017 15" Macbook Pro developed an LCD discoloration. But don't expect Apple to stand behind their engineering blunders until they are forced to corporate believes the complaints rise to a thunder that might cut into future sales. Think about how many macbook keyboards had to fail before they accepted responsibility to repair them for free! Apple current unimaginative administration is still living off the genius of Jobs, but is not about the computer enthusiast anymore. It's a consumer electronics company focused on shareholder profits! It's about more and more sales and not support of responsibly designed machines for hypercreative individuals.

I always buy flagship models, except for Macs. No way I am spending over 3,000 dollars on a device the gets updated once a year. What I do is buy the base model MacBook Pro for 1,000 dollars and then upgrade once yearly.

Looks nice but based on the information on Apple's website... Appears that you have to add ~$400 to get an additional 16GB of RAM (16GB-->32GB)! Talk about Apple Tax! Has 3072x1920 resolution screen but 4K resolution is not available. No mention if SSD is m.2 or Sata version. No mentioned if it's user upgradeable or not, though it's probably the latter. Then again, upgrading from the Base model will cost you lots of money as the top line is ~>$6,100. At least PC laptop brands (Lenovo, Dell, HP) have some powerful models with optional features like a 4K screen and still cost less than the new MacBook Pro 2019.
