I really like what Norm Macdonald said because it's so accurate, "The great Andrew Yang was a victim of being ahead of his time. Don't worry, pal, the nation will catch up. #YangGang2024"

Yang definitely made me think harder. About all of politics. He led me to realize that so many issues come from decisions made based on feelings, not reason. Take poverty, for example. So many are willing to say that poverty is a huge issue that needs to be addressed, but very few are willing to propose the obvious solution of just giving poor people the money that they lack. Everyone seems to just complicate issues with ideology - prioritizing feelings over reason. When you look at the non-partisan data, it's apparent that poverty is not caused by a lack of character, nor is it a cleverly designed scheme to oppress the masses. No, poverty is a lack of cash. It's a product of the economic system that many accept as unchangeable which prioritizes "productivity" over human values. And poverty makes those affected less "productive," because the impoverished are distracted from money-making by human issues, such as mental health, physical health, maintaining their home, existential dread, etc... Often these issues are induced by disadvantages created by the same economic system. It's fucking frustrating to me how ideologues demonize those who are the most victimized, while clear-minded analyses demonstrate the obvious truth that the system we live in is imperfect, and it can be improved to benefit everyone. There's a reason why Yang attracted people across the left-right spectrum, and it’s because that spectrum is just bullshit pushed by a now (hopefully) dis-unified political establishment, which might be losing its stranglehold on politics. Yang has shown that with enough support generated by individuals and energy behind an idea, the forces that oppose it can do little but pretend it doesn't exist. And there's no greater way to generate support than by simply speaking the truth.

There are so many low information voters out there. Watching the Trevor Noah show last night some people said they voted for random candidates and one lady said she voted for someone because he has a great smile. Seriously why are you voting, if your gonna vote like that. The movie "Idiocracy", is not far from actually coming to fruition.

They did they effing best keeping him out and down--pushed him last to speak in conventions, called him John Yang almost two years into his candidacy, left him out in all the polling graphics, he wasn't getting PACs or corporate support (his choice so there's no money), they disrespected him--I can tell you he is devastated. He is not running anymore in politics. No one worked as hard as him, no one had ideas better than him, no one was smart as him, and they effing killed him deliberately! I am not voting--unless other than for B. Weld! Disgusting! I know he is hurt--he is not going for VP--he had enough and they kept stomping on him. He had more hopes for America than America had in him. The media, especially MSNBC, bitch Trump great service but keeping the only candidate who could beat Trump on the side line.

Economics Free Money Didn’t Help People Find Jobs, Finland Says By Kati Pohjanpalo February 8, 2019 at 1:47 :45 AM EST Updated on February 8, 2019 at 4:24 :40 AM EST Preliminary results show no major impact on employment levels Full results of basic income trial not expected until 2020 LISTEN TO ARTICLE 3:58 SHARE THIS ARTICLE Share Tweet Post Email Distributing free money to the unemployed improves their well-being, but doesn’t appear to have any significant impact on their job prospects. That’s according to the preliminary results of a landmark experiment in Finland, the first country in the world to trial a basic income at a national level. The Nordic social welfare champion spent the last two years handing out 560 euros ($635) per month to a randomly selected group of 2,000 jobless people aged between 25 and 58. The basic aim was to explore new ways of distributing social security in a world where more workers are threatened by automation and fewer are likely to take on traditional nine-to-five jobs. The current system is seen as too bureaucratic and often dissuades people from taking on temporary or part-time work. According to a preliminary assessment published on Friday by the social services agency Kela, the recipients of the monthly stipend spent on average about half a day more in employment per year than the control group. “On the basis of an analysis of register data on an annual level, we can say that during the first year of the experiment the recipients of a basic income were no better or worse than the control group at finding employment in the open labor market,” said Ohto Kanninen, Research Coordinator at the Labour Institute for Economic Research. The recipients did however report “less stress symptoms as well as less difficulties to concentrate and less health problems than the control group,” said Minna Ylikanno, lead researcher at Kela. “They were also more confident in their future and in their ability to influence societal issues.” Feeling Better Self-perceived assessment of own state of health was better among recipients Kela, Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health Old Debate Kela’s results are set to add fodder to a debate that’s been intriguing political philosophers and economists for centuries: What happens when citizens are given money with no strings attached? Against the background of a global discussion on how to deal with rising inequality, the pilot project has attracted international attention and is being closely watched by economists, sociologists and billionaires including Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Read more on the history of a Universal Basic Income The idea of a basic income as a replacement for means-tested welfare payments has its share of supporters on both the left and the right of the political spectrum. Advocates say it eliminates poverty traps and redistributes income while empowering the individual and reducing paperwork. The concept has inspired Italy’s populist government, which this week started honoring its election promise of a “citizen’s income” for the poor. Read more on Italy’s Citizens Income Other countries have taken different avenues, with the U.K. opting instead for a Universal Credit system that replaced six means-tested benefits and tax credits with a single monthly payment. Finland’s experiment was implemented by the government of Juha Sipila, the country’s first millionaire prime minister, between 2017 and 2018. Despite solid economic growth and falling unemployment, Finland suffers from an aging population. The country is seen as a trend-setter when it comes to social policy, with its education system and baby boxes (containers full of baby clothes and care products delivered to expectant mothers) admired around the world. Useful Data With its road-testing of a basic income, the government wanted to find out whether a basic income could simplify the social security system, eliminate excessive bureaucracy and remove incentive traps. Researchers at Kela also wanted to measure its impact on the participants’ physical and psychological well-being. Olli Karkkainen, an economist at Nordea Bank Abp, found the results surprising. “I had expected the basic income experiment to have a greater positive impact on employment because incentives for work were boosted so significantly,” he said in an interview. Pirkko Mattila, Finland’s minister of social affairs and health, said that despite its success in providing useful data, “the basic income model developed for the experiment is not likely to be adopted as such for more extensive use.” According to some estimates, a nationwide basic income would add around 5 percentage points to Finland’s public deficit relative to gross domestic product. Friday’s preliminary results only looked at the first year and focused on statistical data, with a final report not due until 2020. - With assistance by Leo Laikola, and Brad Cook (Adds economist’s comment in 14th paragraph, chart.) Bernie will not be able to get anything done, and that will make it harder for Yang to get elected next cycle. Yang was the only candidate that would beat Trump this cycle, just like Bernie was in 2016. You not supporting Yang is essentially saying you don't support ending abject poverty in the United States -- the richest country in the history of the world. I was a HUGE supporter of Bernie in '16 - but this FJG is a byzantine, dystopian nightmare, and $15 min. wage is a joke that will only hurt small businesses and not affect the vast majority of people, and doesn't value caregivers, etc. Y'all that didn't vote for Yang should have thought harder about this elections policies and candidates, and now the opportunity to is lost. Thanks for making me loose faith in America. I thought we we're smarter than this.

Or, Trump will get reelected (either because the Democratic party is dumb enough to go with Bloomberg/Biden/Re-Pete/Klobuchar or Trump uses the shampeachment momentum and lots of red scare to edge out Bernie), and has either a terrible 4 years or even a moderately good 4 years, but all the stuff Yang's been talking about is even more evident in 2024. Then with Bernie gone (too old) and the MSM's hold on the Ministry of Truth seriously weakened, perhaps it becomes the perfect opportunity for Yang to become President at that time.
Heebee Jeebee
Heebee Jeebee Month ago
Yea I'm worried that even if Bernie does SOMEHOW win (I don't think he will), he wont do a good job, and when Yang runs in 2024 no-one will vote for him cause they'll think he'll be another Bernie.

Trump republican party is stronger than before and yang was pulling some of them away more than other candidiate. Yang united the left and right while other candidate mostly focuses on their own party more and just try to attract other. Well, I guess that's it for the United States. Y'all people who didn't vote for Yang -- I don't even consider you Americans. You didn't do your duty and research the candidates before you voted, and you allowed the media to own you. There is no other justification for voting against ending poverty in the richest nation in the history of the world. I will be voting for Yang in the Washington State Primary regardless. I will not be voting in the general election. #YangOrBust

If you were following Yang from the beginning, you would have seen it, heard it, felt it, the Yellow shadow they cast on him and how they insidiously made him felt. He felt it--that's why he was pumping himself (jumping, moving to steady his thoughts in the later most recent period in his appearance). I donated thousands to Yang--and I don't regret it, but AMERICA will! Unlike Yang, I fight back harder and in more creatives ways.
